What This Is:
Post-Apocalypse is an ongoing community art project. . . . .yada yada yada. You are, I assume, familiar with PostSecret. I guess it's fair to call what we're doing here a parody of that. Hopefully ours will be less depressing. Anyway, we thought that it would be funny, and fun, to have a bunch of our weird friends who are obsessed with (or perhaps just prepared for) the Coming Apocalypse make postcards to pithily show us their vision of what our future is, or may be. Then we thought, of course, that it's silly to limit this to our friends. Thus, like Frank Warren, we're putting out an open call for these postcards. We started this whole thing on February 1st, 2008, about 5 minutes after Jarrett first had the idea. Bill bought our domain right then (we couldn't believe that this sweet domain was available), and we put a site together and started calling our artist friends to solicit cards that very night.
Who We Are:
We are Bill Dubert and Jarrett Butler. Bill is a writer, sort of. Sometimes. He's also a part-time website maker guy of sorts, though not a very good one. He's the leader of Creative Self-Loathing, through which he seeks to try to help his friends make their internet idea-thingies real. He probably writes a blog or two. He is under no illusion that he is an artist of any sort. He has a B.A. in Philosophy from Clemson University. He enjoys hiking, sleeping, reading, Nintendo, playing Manhunt, and writing about himself on About pages in the third person.
Jarrett Butler is a sometime artist from Greenwood, South Carolina. He has a deep and perverse obsession with House, MD and knows way more about Lost and Star Wars than you do. He drinks girl drinks and listens to geek-rock. He's a seriously devious son-of-a-bitch who has parts of an art degree from Lander University. He hates most things and makes kick-ass Joker costumes.
